A standard roll is 0.53 × 10.05 m. Without pattern matching a roll usually yields 3–4 drops for a 2.5 m wall; with a pattern repeat each drop must start at the beginning of the pattern and the yield drops — the larger the repeat, the more offcuts.
The calculator works out drops from the room perimeter, subtracts large openings and converts the result into rolls, adding paste and primer. Buy all rolls from one batch — shade can differ slightly between batches and it will show on the wall.
Wallpaper cannot be calculated accurately from square metres alone. First determine the number of drops from room perimeter and roll width, then how many full-height drops fit into one roll. Pattern repeat increases each cut length and can reduce the yield substantially.
Doors and windows do not always reduce roll count fully because offcuts can be used above and below openings. The calculator gives a safe buying estimate, but complex matching must be checked against the roll label.
The remaining roll length may be too short for the next full drop. Room height and repeat are as important as area.
Large openings can be considered, but material is still needed above and below them. It is safer not to subtract the entire opening area.
